County Sheriff Allman Endorsement
County Sheriff Thomas D. Allman has endorsed Wendy for Supervisor…
Welcome!
Dear Friends of the Fifth District:
Thank you, to those of you who voted for me in the Primary. Welcome, to those who are searching for a runoff candidate who offers integrity, experience, a concerned ear, and the follow-through and fiscal responsibility we need to revitalize our economy and restore jobs while protecting our environment and rural lifestyles.
In the Primary, I placed second, running against 3 experienced politicians. Now, I’m asking for your endorsement, your contribution, your help and your vote to win the Fifth District Supervisor’s Seat on November 2nd.
I credit ideology-based politics and the resulting divisiveness with having played a large part in the fact that our Country’s and our County’s economy and job opportunities have progressively declined while our public debt has progressively increased.
I believe that most of us now realize, that preserving our environment and our rural lifestyles depends on also working together to revitalize our economy. My goal is to help Mendocino County achieve a sustainable future by serving as a measured leader who has shown my ability to listen well, do my homework on key issues and then stay the course to act in the public interest.
As a Democrat and life-long moderate, I embrace the ideals of educational opportunity for all, environmental protections, a culturally rich and diverse society and public health, law enforcement and emergency services that are essential to public safety. Indeed, it is precisely because of my liberal values that I also embrace fiscal responsibility and support appropriate localized economic development as the means to sustain our families and communities.
My background includes an unusual combination of non-profit management and small business experience, community involvement, committed service to youth and the environment and relevant education, including Stanford undergraduate degrees in Communication and Psychology and an MBA from University of San Francisco, a Jesuit institution with a strong emphasis on public service. I also recently completed two year-long terms as a member of the Mendocino County Civil Grand Jury, acting as Foreman Pro Tem during the second term and participating in nearly forty investigative studies of county and local government agencies, special districts, public schools and county-funded non-profits.
Over the past twenty years, I’ve filled leadership roles for the Mendocino Coast District Hospital, Mendocino Art Center, Mendocino Unified School Enrichment Foundation. I’ve volunteered and/or served as a consultant to numerous other organizations including Mendocino Unified School District, the County Office of Education and the North Coast Rural Challenge Network.
I’ve overcome numerous personal and professional obstacles over the years and have come to believe in my ability to persevere and prevail against the odds. This and my diverse background, fuel my commitment to County leadership that is balanced, fiscally responsible, fair and respectful of all.
I am running for Fifth District Supervisor not for personal gain or political position, but out of a sincere commitment to public service. Living on the coast makes me particularly aware of the importance of protecting our environmental resources. While the size and diversity of the 5th District keeps me tuned to a county-wide perspective, I share first-hand the challenges of living in one of the more remote areas of the County. I can be counted on to leave ideology and special interests at the door and focus on the public’s work.
I thank you for your consideration.
Wendy Roberts
